Job summary
The Strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead will report directly to the Chair of the AfC Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Board and will be the Vice Chair of that Board. The AfC EDI Board oversees organisational activity that promotes awareness and improvements regarding equality, diversity and inclusion, supports AfCs Employee Networks, organises events and reviews our organisational infrastructure and resources that supports EDI in everything that we do (e.g. policy, processes, training etc). The remit of the role will flex depending on the organisational need and priorities which will be informed by best practice, feedback, data and organisational learning.
The post is for one day per week for an initial 24 month period with the opportunity to extend.
Please note the salary advertised is full time equivalent however will be pro rata.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead to help Achieving for Children coordinate and drive forward our EDI development journey.
You will work across Achieving for Children, liaising with senior officers and colleagues to develop proposals and effectively implement change programmes. You will lead on a range of organisational development initiatives and will work flexibly to meet priorities as they emerge. Duties of this role will include:
- Thinking creatively to develop programmes that inspire colleagues, partners and service users to engage with initiatives and strive for continuous improvement
- Being solution focused and willing to get involved in implementing actions as well as planning and reviewing EDI activity

About you
The successful candidate will:
- Be knowledgeable about EDI and all the protected characteristics
- Have a passion for supporting staff and driving cultural change
- Be experienced in developing and leading programmes of work and will have the confidence to facilitate sensitive conversations, respect different perspectives and use information to drive meaningful change and progress
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline and/or a professional qualification or equivalent level of experience
