About the role:
The
Director, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community leads the development and implementation of proactive and global inclusion, belonging, and community initiatives and practices. This global leadership role supports Wileys strategic ambition to create a culture of empowerment, engagement, and growth, one that values and demonstrates its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
This role also will focus on engagement across Wileys global colleague community and with partners outside of the organization to foster a more inclusive environment both within the company and in Wileys broader research, learning, and publishing communities. The Director will collaborate effectively with leaders and colleagues at all levels across the business to envision, design, and execute Wileys overarching Inclusion and Community strategy, champion programs that create an inclusive colleague experience, and advise on and direct activities that build more inclusive lines of business with and further equity in the markets in which we operate and in the communities we serve.
A senior managerial position responsible for a strategically important internally and externally focused function with global remit, the Direct provides leadership and direction through influencing senior managers, external partners and fellow colleagues. The person in this role also develops, adapts and executes functional programs to achieve key business and cultural objectives.
How you will make an impact:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive DEI and Community strategies that align with Wileys strategy and goals.
- Program Development: Design and deliver innovative programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and build community across the organization.
- Metrics and Reporting: Continually reevaluate baseline and target diversity and representation metrics and related metrics for measuring the effectiveness of DE&I and Community initiatives. Oversee reporting to senior leaders, regulators, and other internal and external stakeholders as required.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, stakeholders, and partners to support DE&I and Community initiatives.
- Promote Cultural Competency: Foster a culture of continuous learning about human differences. Provide training and professional development opportunities to staff on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Policy Development: Review and update organizational policies to ensure they reflect best practices in DE&I and Community.
- Collaboration: Work closely with leaders and colleagues across the organization to integrate DEI principles into all aspects of the organizations business and publishing operations.
- Advocacy: Serve as an ambassador and advocate for inclusive and equitable initiatives within the organization and across the community.
Desired Skills:
- Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in a corporate, academic, or government setting, with at least 5+ years working directly within a focus on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and/or Belonging.
- Expertise in the professional discipline of inclusion and inclusion management as it relates to societally significant differences including, but not limited to, race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual-orientation, age, religion, disability, socio-economic status, political affiliation, country of origin, and immigration status.
- Experience creating and executing inclusion and equity strategies.
- Excellent operational/analytical skills.
- Experience leveraging data to measure success of existing initiatives and inform opportunities for new initiatives.
- Deep understanding of best practices and trends in diversity, equity and inclusion, with a strong track record of translating into an actionable strategy and driving action across various teams.
- Experience building trusted relationships with senior leaders.
- Ability to influence the business to increase leadership commitment and accountability for inclusion efforts, creating an environment of belonging and addressing areas of improvement for all team members.

The range below represents Wileys good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA.
