We are looking to recruit two Trainee Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs) in the borough of Lambeth. The CWP Team in Lambeth is part of Lambeth CAMHS .
This is a training position and so all candidates will need to apply for both the trainee role with our organisation and the KCL Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice and meet all requirements in order to be shortlisted (see KCL application guidance attached)
This post offers candidates an opportunity to develop clinical skills needed to work in child and adolescent mental health services as a provider of sub-threshold interventions. Part of your remit will be to help improve partnership working across the borough, community engagement and access to therapy for CYP's and their families.
The training posts are designed to equip the post holder to offer high-quality; brief outcome focused evidence-based Guided Self-Help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
The post holders will attend university based taught tuition and undertake self-study days, working in the service for the remaining time using newly developed skills. The post holders will also receive supervision from an experienced trained CAMHS clinician. As part of your job application, you are asked to apply to Kings College London for a place on the training programme.
Assess and deliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
Work in partnership with young people, parents and families, to support children or young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties through evidence-based workshops, 1-1 and group interventions. Trainees will be taught in the delivery of evidence-based guided self-help interventions.
Always operate from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity.
Adhere to an agreed activity schedule relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to improve timely access and minimise waiting times.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate.
Keep coherent records of all activity in line with service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making. Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments. Apply learning from the training programme to practice. In addition to regular clinical supervision that supports professional development, trainees will receive supervision from educational providers in relation to course work to meet the required standards.
The London Borough of Lambeth has a population of 317,800 (GLA 2020). Lambeth’s population is highly diverse, a characteristic visible in the breadth of ethnic and cultural traditions seen throughout the borough. It is estimated that 63% of the population describe their ethnicity as other than White British; 23% describe their ethnicity as Black (11% Black African, 7% Black Caribbean and 5% Other Black), 22% White Other and 6% as Asian.
The Annual population survey, estimates that a third of Lambeth’s residents are non-UK born. Of these non-UK born, 40% are of wider European origin, 20% are of African origin; and 20% of Central or South American origin. Nearly 150 languages are spoken as the first language in the homes of Lambeth school children. Portuguese, Spanish and Somali, are the most commonly spoken other languages in Lambeth. Lambeth has a child and youth population aged 0-20 of almost 70,000. Over 50% of this number are 0 to 9 years old.
