Salary: £62,400–£70,200 (DOE) plus a comprehensive benefits package including enhanced annual leave (33 days including bank holidays plus birthday leave), festive office closure, pension scheme, healthcare cash plan, critical illness cover, gym discounts, technology vouchers, dining and activity passes, EAP and wellbeing support.

Membership Bespoke is working with an independent, not-for-profit, cross-sector membership organisation based in Westminster to recruit a Head of Membership Engagement

Our client convenes senior leaders from across government, industry and the not-for-profit sector, creating a trusted environment for dialogue, collaboration and problem-solving on critical national issues. Its membership community is central to its mission, bringing together organisations committed to cross-sector leadership and long-term economic and societal impact.

This is a senior, commercially focused leadership role responsible for the growth, retention and overall health of a high-value membership community. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on relationship management and business development.

Key responsibilities

Membership strategy and leadership

Develop and deliver a membership strategy that drives engagement, retention and growth

Lead and develop a high-performing membership team

Manage budgets, forecasting and performance reporting

Business development

Identify and secure new member organisations aligned to strategic priorities

Build and manage a strong pipeline of opportunities

Lead senior-level sales conversations and presentations

Member engagement and retention

Develop tailored engagement plans for member organisations

Maintain senior relationships and act as a trusted adviser

Ensure consistent delivery of member value across all touchpoints

Member insight and collaboration

Gather and utilise member insight to inform organisational strategy

Work closely with partnerships, marketing and programme teams

Ensure effective use of CRM systems and data

About you

Essential

At least three years’ experience as a Head of or equivalent senior leader within a membership,

sales, account management or stakeholder relations function.

Minimum three years’ experience managing, developing and coaching a team with direct

commercial accountability.

Demonstrable track record of business development, including upselling, cross-selling and exceeding financial targets in a membership, professional services or policy environment. Significant experience of membership strategy, client engagement or account management in

a comparable organisation – membership body, consultancy, policy institute, NGO or

professional services firm.

Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with senior leaders across sectors, including government departments and large private sector organisations.

Track record of financial forecasting, budgeting and performance reporting. Interest in public policy, government affairs or cross-sector context.

Desirable

Experience within a public policy, government affairs or cross-sector context. Familiarity with CRM platforms (ideally Dynamics 365) and their application to member engagement and pipeline management.

Background in a not-for-profit, charity or membership organisation.
