The Faculty of Law is looking to employ an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Officer who will work closely with the Associate Dean for Equality and Diversity on a range of projects relating to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in the Faculty of Law. Their work will be guided by the Faculty strategy published in March 2024 (Shared Ambitions: A Strategy for the Faculty of Law). A large part of the role involves monitoring progress towards the targets set out in the Faculty’s Athena Swan Action Plan, and ensuring that these actions are implemented.
The postholder will be responsible for working with the Associate Dean for Equality and Diversity to identify Faculty EDI priorities, set goals and translate these into actionable plans; lead the design, delivery and evaluation of EDI initiatives; design and administer surveys and focus groups; provide analysis of the biennial University Staff Experience Survey; carry out quantitative and qualitative analysis to measure progress against action plans (including Athena Swan); lead internal and external communications about EDI activity (newsletters, website/microsite content, printed materials) and develop assessment-brief and other template wording as required; ensure equality considerations and fairness are embedded across initiatives and that any recommended detection or monitoring tools meet equality and data-protection standards and manage a member of the Law PSS Team.
The successful candidate will have working knowledge of the Equality Act 2010, the Public Sector Equality Duty and familiarity with EDI frameworks (e.g. Athena Swan or similar schemes); proven project-management experience (planning, convening working groups, meeting milestones and managing modest budgets)’ experience designing, delivering and evaluating EDI initiatives and/or training (e.g. workshops, mentoring schemes, events); strong analytical skills: experience running surveys/focus groups, undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis, and producing clear visual reports and excellent communication skills, including preparing policy documents, briefings and stakeholder communications. This role is permanent and full time with the postholder based at St Cross Building, St Cross Road, Oxford. The Law Faculty supports hybrid working, the postholder will be required to be on site for at least 40% of their working week.
