As our Equality Charters Manager, you will sit at the heart of our strategy, leading our institutional submissions for key equality frameworks including Athena Swan, the Race Equality Charter, and other sector-wide initiatives.
This is an influential, highly collaborative role where your data analysis, strategy, and policy recommendations will directly shape University leadership decisions and foster long-term cultural change.
What You Will Do
- Lead Strategic Charter Submissions: Project-manage complex, institutional-wide applications for Athena Swan, Race Equality Charter, and emerging sector standards.
- Turn Data into Action: Analyse qualitative and quantitative EDI data to uncover insights, monitor progress, and establish evidence-based action plans.
- Advise Senior Leadership: Provide subject-matter expertise to senior leaders, faculty heads, and steering groups to embed EDI best practices into daily operations.
- Engage & Collaborate: Partner with academic departments, professional services, and staff networks to build consensus and drive engagement across the university community.
- Draft Key Documents: Produce clear, high-impact reports, policies, and strategic documents for executive boards and external assessment bodies.

We are seeking a proactive EDI professional who brings both strategic vision and hands-on delivery experience:
- Proven Track Record: Demonstrated experience successfully developing and delivering equality charter submissions and action plans within higher education or complex public sector organisations.
- Deep Sector Knowledge: In-depth understanding of current EDI legislation, statutory frameworks, and best practices across higher education.
- Analytical & Project Skills: Exceptional ability to interpret complex data sets and manage cross-departmental projects.
- Strong Communication: Outstanding written skills with experience producing board-level reports, policy proposals, and strategic plans.
- Stakeholder Management: Confident in building relationships, influencing leaders, and facilitating change across diverse teams.
Why Join Us?
- Work-Life Balance: Generous annual leave, family-friendly policies, and flexible/hybrid working arrangements.
- Inclusive Environment: Active staff networks, dedicated support forums, and inclusive campus facilities.
- Disability Confident & Equal Opportunity Employer: We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates, who are currently underrepresented in our team. We ensure that a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants that meet the essential criteria will be offered an interview under the Disability Confident scheme.
