Practice Group Summary
Shareholder Advisory services include M&A Advisory, Activism Preparation and Defense, Board Governance Services, Corporate Governance Advisory, Proxy Solicitation, Capital Markets Intelligence, Global Debt and Bondholder Services, and Stakeholder Research.
The Opportunity
In this role you will be an integral member of our Corporate Governance Consulting Advisory team - this role is based in London. You will be working closely with senior members of the team to support the team’s work in delivering clients with insights and updates on governance-related matters on an ongoing basis, including the assessment of best practices and emerging trends as they relate to each client’s specific circumstances.
As part of its consulting engagements, the team provides guidance on the full range of corporate governance matters, anticipating potential challenges to minimize the risk of shareholder activism and alignment of clients' governance profiles with market expectations. Parallel to assessing potential risks from emerging trends, the team provides strategic, practical advice to help clients make informed decisions on such issues as corporate governance, board-related matters, executive compensation, and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and collaborate with team members on various projects, including research requests; assist in assessing, analyzing, and preparing materials that summarize potential impact to clients/our services
- Contribute to the client experience by working on client projects and deliverables
- Set up, format, and prepare client-facing reports through entry and review of relevant data into applicable programs; streamline process as appropriate
- Track, review, and consolidate information from various sources into centralized location
- Support, and over time manage, client deliverable timelines
- Keep abreast of broader corporate governance developments, trends and shifts in views (investors, regulators, proxy advisors, activists and shareholder proponents, industry peers, etc.); assist in communicating relevant findings internally and externally
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Some experience in conducting analyses with ability to draw appropriate conclusions and make informed recommendations
- Highly engaged and motivated self-starter with the ability to think critically and work independently
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.) and PowerPoint (creating new and compelling slides, adding tables and graphics, changing fonts and colours, etc.)
- Comfort in communicating and presenting to senior leadership, with the ability to present new ideas
- Strong project/time management and organizational skills with ability to meet multiple deadlines
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with shareholder services and/or investment stewardship a plus
