Job Overview
The purpose of this role is to provide a reception and clerical service for The Riverside Clinic which provides contraception and sexual health care. The role is varied with a combination of managing the reception area, taking calls and booking appointments. As well as supporting the clinical staff with administrative duties.
Main duties of the job
To Provide a Reception Service To Include
- Meeting and greeting all patients and visitors to the department in a friendly, sensitive and non-judgemental manner.
- Making new and follow up appointments and rearranging as necessary both face-to-face and over the telephone.
- Registering patients and inputting patients’ details on computer.
- Scanning documents
- Giving appropriate clinic information to patients when attending appointments.
- Confirming patient details are correct and updated as required.
- Dealing with difficult patients at reception or on the telephone by adopting a calm and tactful manner.
- Ensuring any complaints or compliments are documented appropriately and referred to the line manager.
- Managing incoming post appropriately.
- Liaising with offsite IT Technical Support in the event of a computer malfunction.
- Informing patients of negative results if they phone requesting them.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy reception area.
- Updating telephone recorded messages
- Checking and responding to emails that have come through on the Riverside Clinic shared email

- Experience of dealing with the public both face-to-face and on the telephone

- Experience of working in the NHS or similar health care setting. Experience of reception work.
