PURPOSE OF ROLE
This role is funded through the National Lottery Reaching Communities Grant and plays an integral part in the delivery of a new project, as well as supporting the strategic development of the organisation.
The Volunteer Inclusion Coordinator will help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for young people, ensuring programmes and partnerships reflect the diverse communities we serve across Hertfordshire. Working with a research partner and steering group, they will develop inclusive recruitment practices, clear volunteer pathways, and supportive structures so a diverse volunteer base feels welcomed, valued and able to thrive.
Success in this role will mean a more representative volunteer base, stronger relationships with underrepresented communities, and inclusion embedded across volunteering and organisational practices.
The role also supports the organisation’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) work, using insight, feedback and lived experience to ensure young people feel seen, heard and supported.
We are committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace. We actively encourage applications from people with lived experience from underrepresented backgrounds, including individuals from Black and minoritised ethnic communities and LGBTQIA+ communities.
KEY DUTIES
– Analyse baseline volunteer and service data to better understand the current demographic profile of the volunteer base, and to inform targeted stakeholder engagement priorities.
– Commission and manage an external research partner to explore attitudes and barriers to volunteering amongst Black and minoritised ethnic communities and LGBTQIA+ communities.
– Establish, onboard, manage and support the project steering group.
– Work with the project steering group and research partner to identify barriers that may prevent volunteers from engaging and create an action plan to suggest practical solutions to improve inclusion. Implement and monitor the action plan developed with the research partner, ensuring agreed recommendations are carried out effectively to enhance volunteer inclusion and engagement with Caudwell Youth.
– Promote volunteering opportunities within diverse communities across Hertfordshire, including Black and minoritised communities and LGBTQIA+ communities, youth centres, community groups, faith organisations and local networks.
– Work in partnership with the operations and marketing teams to develop inclusive resources and approaches that enable staff to confidently and consistently deliver inclusive activities.
– Work with the research partner to develop and implement methods to gather qualitative and quantitative data, including feedback and case studies, to demonstrate project impact.
– Produce concise engagement and insight-led reports to inform the EDIB strategy, providing regular updates to colleagues and working collaboratively to ensure inclusion is embedded across all projects.
– Contribute to the development and delivery of the charity’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB) priorities.
– Champion inclusive language and accessible approaches across projects.
