National Bank of Canada Capital Markets (“NBCCM”) is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of National Bank of Canada (“NBC”). What We’re Looking For
NBCCM’s Mining & Metals Investment Banking team is seeking an Investment Banking Intern to support deal execution and origination activities in London, UK.
As an Investment Banking Intern, you will play a key role in supporting transaction execution and industry coverage activities, gaining significant exposure to complex advisory and financing mandates. Responsibilities will progressively increase, offering strong development opportunities within a specialist sector-focused franchise.
Your Job
- Assisting in the evaluation and analysis of the financial needs of corporate clients, including financial modelling and valuation analysis
- Supporting deal teams with transaction structuring and the execution of advisory and financing mandates
- Preparing presentations, pitch books, and other materials to support clients' strategic and capital markets decision-making
- Assisting in the drafting of marketing materials, investor presentations, prospectuses, offering memoranda, and other transaction-related documentation
- Conducting company, industry, commodity, and market research with a focus on the mining & metals sector
- Supporting senior team members with deal execution, project coordination, and client coverage activities
- Maintaining financial databases and assisting with the preparation of internal and external reports
Basic Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, engineering, or other related disciplines
- Strong academic record with demonstrated analytical and quantitative abilities
- Previous internship experience in investment banking, corporate finance, transaction advisory, equity research, consulting, capital markets, or other related fields, is desirable
- Strong interest in the mining & metals or broader natural resources sectors
- Basic understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital markets
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Experience with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, FactSet, or similar financial databases is considered an asset
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated teamwork, initiative, and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
