The Cultural Safety Midwife will work to reduce inequality in maternity outcomes and experiences of Black, Asian and other women from an Ethnic Minority background, through engagement and co- production with other members of the maternity and multidisciplinary team, and community groups and service users representing these populations.
The post holder will have responsibility for gathering information, reporting, raising awareness, training and working towards solutions in these areas as they relate to both service users and staff within maternity services.
We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and values-driven leader to join our maternity team as a Cultural Safety Lead, driving our commitment to equity, inclusion and improved outcomes for women and families from diverse communities.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of a cultural safety agenda within maternity services. You will play a key role in reducing health inequalities, particularly for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic women and those with additional language needs, ensuring safe, personalised and culturally responsive care.
You will provide leadership to link workers and interpreting services, ensuring effective systems that improve both safety and experience. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, community organisations and system partners, you will co-design solutions that reflect local population needs.
You will influence practice and culture across the organisation, working with senior leaders, clinical teams, EDI and patient experience colleagues to embed cultural safety. You will also lead education and training to support staff development and accountability.
