The successful applicant will be an experienced professional with an Early Years or childcare qualification and a secure understanding of strengthening inclusive practice to improve early education outcomes, childcare policies, practices and the legislative framework.
In Birmingham, the
Best Start in Life (BSiL) Strategy is a city-wide, five-year programme focused on improving outcomes for children from pre-conception to age five through a whole-system approach involving health, education, family hubs, early years providers, schools and community partners. The Senior Inclusion Officer will support this strategy by delivering programmes, support, advice and guidance which strengthens inclusive and equitable leadership and practice within the sector with the aim of increasing the percentage of children achieving a good level of development at the end of the early years foundation stage.
As Senior Inclusion Officer, You Will
- Lead the development and implementation of strategies that improve inclusion and equality across early years and childcare services.
- Provide specialist advice and support to help services meet their legal and statutory responsibilities.
- Develop education and training approaches that strengthen the confidence and capability of the early years and childcare workforce.
- Lead actions to improve inclusive practice in childcare settings, including workshops delivered through Early Years Network arrangements.
- Work with partners and stakeholders to identify needs, improve services and achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
- Evaluate the impact of internally delivered and commissioned support, using evidence to inform future planning which will narrow the attainment gap.
- Contribute to service reviews, needs analysis, business planning and value-for-money activity.
- Represent the Early Years and Childcare Team at local, regional and national meetings.
- Promote children’s rights, equality, diversity and inclusion throughout service planning and delivery.
