To develop, co-ordinate and lead a range of policy and business change activities which support the successful co-ordination of mental health and wellbeing programmes including trauma informed practice and suicide prevention in line with the HSCP and Council commitment to implement national mental health policy in operational areas.
Using an understanding of mental health prevention, organisational culture change and the principles of trauma informed practice, the postholder will provide strategic support to managers and work closely with officers across the Council, HSCP, and wider community planning partnership to maximise opportunities for collaboration and secure the delivery of the programme outcomes and benefits.

- West Dunbartonshire HSCP is seeking to appoint to an exciting and challenging role of Programme Lead for Mental Health, Trauma and Suicide Prevention
- The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the mental health and wellbeing, trauma informed practice and suicide prevention programme of work ensuring robust project and performance management is aligned to deliver service and corporate priorities as required
- Coordinate the programme local working groups
- Produce reports and briefings identifying progress and outcomes for senior officers, elected members and community planning partners as required
- Lead on the development and coordination of a mental health and wellbeing, trauma informed practice and suicide prevention action plan
- Work collaboratively with senior officers and managers across the HSCP and Council services, and wider community planning partners to align the work of the mental health and wellbeing, trauma informed practice and suicide prevention to existing and planned programmes of work, responding to new and emerging national policy developments on a partnership basis where appropriate
- Coordinate access to training on mental health and wellbeing including trauma informed practice and suicide prevention for the HSCP and Council’s workforce
- Support HSCP and Council services and partners in assessing their policies, practices, and physical environments against preventative mental health principles
- Implement an evaluation framework
- Manage achievement of key performance objectives and indicator targets
- Identify and assist with the implementation of potential organisational wide improvements in relation to the culture of preventative mental health and wellbeing practice and care
- Contribute to policy and practice review and development to meet the requirements of regulation and inspection
