Role Purpose
Reporting to the Vice President LHR, the Head of People LHR is responsible for devising and delivering HR strategies to support achievement of business objectives at the company's LHR operations (Ground Handling & Cargo – current total headcount 2,064), including all aspects of employee lifecycle management, human capital reporting and supporting the LHR leadership in the implementation of best practice HR. Coupled with this, they have responsibility for the direct management for the full HR team both in Ground Handling and Cargo.
The role is part of the UK leadership team as well as the LHR leadership team, responsible for supporting and developing their capability and allowing them to work as tactical business partners, guiding and advising the VP LHR and their leadership team to deliver the HR strategy and plan for LHR ensuring the business objectives are met.
What You Will Be Doing
- Develop, lead and facilitate the People Plan for the LHR business ensuring that it is aligned to the Operational Business Plans, UK HR strategy and overall company people agenda.
- Actively manage corporate and local initiatives and projects on a broad range of HR related subjects
- Recommend and direct the development of policy and procedure on all aspects of HR management and practice that reflects legislation and other regulations, current best practice of HR management.
- Assist in the preparation of UK Employment Tribunal Cases, representing the company where appropriate.
- Facilitate constructive dialogue and a professional working relationship with trade unions and other employee representatives.
- Lead negotiations with trade unions and other employee representatives in conjunction with operational managers on pay, terms and conditions, procedural and other matters.

What We Are Looking For
- Proven senior leadership experience in a People/HR Director or Head of HR role within a large, complex, unionised, and operationally critical environment (e.g. aviation, transport, infrastructure, logistics, or similar scale organisations).
- Demonstrable track record of leading organisation-wide people strategy aligned to business transformation, operational performance, and customer service excellence.
- Significant experience working in a highly regulated environment, with strong understanding of UK employment law, workforce compliance, and industrial relations.
- Experience managing complex stakeholder environments, including executive leadership teams, trade unions, government bodies, and external partners.
- Strong background in leading large-scale workforce planning, organisational design, talent management, and succession planning across multi-site operations.
- Proven ability to drive employee engagement, culture change, and diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI) strategies at scale.
