Strategic Advisory (Consultancy and Data & Insights), 2. Asset Optimisation (Operations and Commercial), 3. Activation & Engagement (Events and Marketing). Role Overview
The Sustainability & Social Impact Team have become a critical function of 54’s fast-growing corporate ambition in the sporting industry –
‘pushing the edge’ for people and planet, to showcase the power of sports for societal good, through; (1)
innovations in our operational delivery for client events, (2)
influencing cross-sector collaboration on environmental, social and economical issues for shared solution development and (3) enabling a unique
legacy for 54’s contributions to the long term positive impact of sport.
The S&I Team is led by 54’s S&I Director and has an external and internal focus – the impact we have through the commercial business services we offer to our clients through our supply chain and the impact we aim to have on our brand, our colleagues and the local communities we operate in.
We have traditionally created the most impact through our
sustainable sports event delivery. However, we recognise we are operating in an age of increasing demand for S&I capabilities in the sports sector and the opportunities here are now substantial. We are now actively broadening our influence to develop capabilities that can support;
sustainable data & digital insights offerings, sustainable fan behaviour offerings, sustainable and purpose-led commercial partnerships, sustainable marketing campaigns and
sustainable advisory. There is an opportunity to work with; venues, rights holders, investors, regulators and governing bodies, fans, professional players, commercial partners, national and local governments, charities and social enterprises and our suppliers. 54 recognises the importance of embedding S&I across all areas of our business for our ambition to be a success, this includes; Events, HR, Marketing, Commercial, Consultancy, Finance, Legal, Data & Insights etc and also embedded across each Territory.
This role is based in the UK, with the expectation and opportunity for periodic international travel as required to the countries where 54 services may take place (Saudi Arabia, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, China, EU (Spain), UK, USA, Mexico, South Africa etc.)

Key Roles And Responsibilities
As 54 operates in a dynamic environment the below may be adjusted as appropriate over time in line with business planning:
- Support the implementation of 54’s S&I focus areas across our internal & external stakeholders.
- Support the refreshing of 54’s S&I Business Policies to reflect updated Environmental & Social & Economic best practice in each of the territories we do business in. (Including; Sustainable & Social Procurement, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility & Wellbeing, Energy Management, Water Management, Waste Management, Environmental Site Protection/Restoration, Risk and Incident Management, Sustainable Food & Beverage Sourcing, Responsible Travel, Accommodation & Transportation, Social Impact & Legacy, Sustainable & Impactful Communications, Fan Engagement, Digital Marketing campaigns & Reporting.)
- Support Event Delivery teams with client S&I requirements – (e.g. supplier engagement, event activations, event accreditation, event impact tracking)
- Work with HR and the 54 Culture Committee to develop S&I initiatives to engage colleagues. (e.g. Volunteering, Pro-Bono services, Socials, Matched Funding & Donations, L&D, Company Legacy initiatives)
- Work with Marketing and Data & Insights to develop efficient & engaging methods for periodic S&I data tracking, communication campaigns & impact reporting to key audiences (including; 54 colleagues, our Board and external audiences – making use of automation, website, social media, and other publications.)
- Support other departmental leads such as Commercial, Finance, Legal, Consultancy, D&I and our Portfolio Companies with cross-over with S&I in support of 54’s compliance and new business propositions.
- Support 54 to comply with and offer services related to external S&I standards – (e.g. ISO, SERC, CSRD, UN Sport for Climate Action etc)
- Support 54 to apply for external S&I awards
Special Skills/Experience/Aptitudes Needed
- Proactive self-starter with an ability to learn and thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of Environmental, Social & Economic global issues.
- Sports Industry experience not required - transferable skills and best practice from other industries are welcomed.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage a diverse range of people
- Creative problem solving – ability to influence
- Effective organisation & prioritisation skills.
- Data & Insights, Software development skills (i.e. Power BI, App development) – desirable
- Languages: Spanish - desirable
