A career without limits
As the nation’s flag carrier, we take great pride in connecting Britain with the world and the world with Britain.
It’s something we’ve been doing for over 100 years, ever since we launched the world’s first international scheduled air service between London and Paris.
This originality has been in our blood since day one. It’s the spirit we share with the people that fly with us, our partners, and our colleagues.
So, whether you are a reassuring voice on the end of a phone, a smile at the door, under a wing keeping the turbines spinning or landing us gently in far-flung places, a job at British Airways is yours to make.
We know great things can happen when you’re inspired to think big and bring your ambition to work every day, which is why, at British Airways the sky is never the limit.
New year, New career?
The role: Policy & Advocacy Executive
You will be joining the
Corporate Affairs and Sustainability directorate — a highly influential part of British Airways responsible for protecting and strengthening the airline’s reputation. This team shapes how BA engages with Government, Parliament, industry bodies and key external stakeholders, ensuring our priorities and perspectives are clearly understood by those who influence the aviation landscape.
Working as part of the function that delivers BA’s
Public Affairs strategy, you will help build trusted relationships with political and industry partners, anticipate external developments and contribute to shaping policy discussions that affect the airline. The team plays a crucial role in elevating BA’s presence and credibility across political and industry circles, ultimately helping to create the conditions that allow the airline to operate, grow and deliver for customers.
What You’ll Do
You will coordinate all Public Affairs activity, ensuring alignment across BA, the IAG Government Affairs team and internal business areas by managing the shared inbox, triaging requests, and overseeing governance and stakeholder‑engagement tracking.
You will help maintain BA’s positive reputation within Government by building strong political relationships through timely updates and briefings, while also drafting well‑researched briefing materials, consultation responses, speeches and Government correspondence to support policy objectives and influence stakeholders. In addition, you will organise Government‑facing events, trips, visits and activities that showcase the airline’s strategic priorities, and support international Government and diplomatic engagement, including market access, route development, regulatory compliance and arranging face‑to‑face meetings.
The role also involves monitoring and reporting on Government activity and regulatory developments, maintaining relationships with industry associations and external organisations, and providing Government Affairs support during crises or disruption, including resolving individual Government travel issues and offering out‑of‑hours support.
What You’ll Bring To British Airways
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear and compelling narratives.
- Confident judgement and the ability to work at pace, make timely decisions and adapt plans as situations evolve.
- Curiosity, collaboration, courage and an empowering, trusting approach to working with stakeholders.
- Excellent organisational skills — able to prioritise, plan, anticipate needs and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
- A positive attitude with strong attention to detail, resilience under pressure and the ability to build strong relationships quickly.
- Awareness of the political landscape, current affairs and the broader news agenda.
- Creativity, flexibility and a problem‑solving mindset.
Your Experience
- Demonstrable understanding of Government and Public Affairs, including experience interacting with political stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of how Government departments work and how policy decisions are made.
- Experience building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across Government, industry or public‑facing organisations.
- Experience planning and coordinating communications or engagement activity, and creating clear, high‑quality written materials.
- Knowledge of global, fast‑paced, consumer‑facing or operational environments, ideally including unionised settings.
What You’ll Bring To British Airways
You will bring a
collaborative and proactive approach, demonstrating strong initiative, curiosity, and sound judgement in all that you do. Your excellent planning and organisational skills will enable you to manage competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. With strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities, you will work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Your
positive and flexible mindset, combined with
resilience under pressure, creativity, and a passion for storytelling, will help drive strategic impact. Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are essential qualities you will contribute to British Airways.
