About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Private Sector Housing Standards Team as a Regulatory Officer (Housing Standards). You will take the lead on responding to tenant complaints about unsafe or poorly managed homes and on investigating unlicensed or non‑compliant HMOs. You will also help deliver the new enforcement responsibilities introduced by the Renters’ Rights Act, strengthening safeguards for renters and tackling unlawful practices in the private rented sector. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your skills while making a real difference to residents’ safety and housing conditions.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
You’ll be joining our Private Sector Housing Standards Team, a dedicated group focused on improving housing quality and ensuring safe, well‑managed homes across our diverse borough. The team works closely with tenants, landlords and partner agencies to deliver a high‑quality, customer‑focused service that tackles poor conditions, raises standards, and protects some of our most vulnerable residents.
A key part of our work is implementing and enforcing the new requirements of the Renters’ Rights Act, including taking robust action to prevent and respond to illegal eviction, harassment and other unlawful practices within the private rented sector. Our team includes PRS Regulation Officers, Principal Regulatory Officers, Regulatory Officers and specialists in HMO licensing and enforcement. Depending on the level of the role, you will report to either a Principal Regulatory Officer or the Head of Service, joining a supportive, committed team that is making a real difference to tenants’ safety and quality of life.
