The Team
The HR Team is responsible for the development of the HR strategy in line with the firm's vision and values and effecting this through the design and implementation of HR policies, practices and initiatives across all areas of people management including professional development; recruitment and selection; equity, diversity, and inclusion; employee relations; pay; benefits; and organisational change and development.
Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Head of ED&I, and overseen by the ED&I & Wellbeing Manager, in this role, you will:
- Support the Head of ED&I and the ED&I & Wellbeing Manager to deliver the firm’s ED&I and Wellbeing strategies
- Be a key contact for our internal ED&I Committee, Employee Impact Groups, and Mental Health First Aiders, organise regular meetings with them, and take responsibility for monthly agendas and meeting minutes
- Assist with events and awareness campaigns for the ED&I and Wellbeing team, and our Employee Impact Groups (e.g. Wellbeing Week, Mental Health Awareness Week, LGBT History Month, Black History Month), including liaising with external speakers, and our internal catering, reception, marketing, IT, and office concierge teams
- Manage the ED&I and Employee Impact Group Outlook inboxes
- Support the Head of ED&I with diversity benchmark submissions and diversity reporting, such as the Social Mobility Index, the Working Families Index, and ED&I data submissions to the Solicitors Regulation Authority
- Support the ED&I team to run a programme of internal ED&I and wellbeing seminars, events, and podcasts, including researching potential speakers, booking speakers and rooms, internal advertising, co-ordinating attendees, collating feedback, and organising catering
- Work with the Head of ED&I and ED&I and Wellbeing Manager to draft regular internal communications including via the intranet and through quarterly firm-wide updates on initiatives and events
- Support the ED&I team to deliver ongoing ED&I-led work experience and internship programmes and workshops
- Keep up to date with best practice and where appropriate and from time to time attend external ED&I and wellbeing seminars and events
- Occasionally deputise for the Head of ED&I and ED&I and Wellbeing Manager at ED&I and Wellbeing inductions for new joiners
Skills and Experience
- Passion for, and interest in, all areas of ED&I and Wellbeing
- Strong MS Office skills in particular Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Clear communication skills including concise and accurate written communication
- Ability to stay organised, get things done, be proactive, and work to deadlines
- High attention to detail
- Strong team work ethic and a commitment to creating an inclusive workplace
Special aspects
Happy to talk flexible working. This role is suitable for individuals looking to work a minimum 0.8 FTE. Flexible working patterns will be considered within the firm’s agile working framework. The hours of work for this opportunity are 09:30am - 5:30pm but it is essential to be committed, flexible and prepared to work beyond the normal office hours when necessary and in response to client demand. Farrer & Co operates an agile working framework under which members of the firm are expected to spend at least 40% of their working hours in the office. This is a minimum expectation: individuals may elect or be asked or expected to work more frequently in the office, depending on circumstance.
