NBCCM is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of National Bank of Canada (“NBC”). National Bank of Canada’s Mining & Metals Investment Banking team is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Analyst or Associate to support deal execution and origination activities in London, UK. This role is suited to candidates with prior full-time investment banking experience, ideally covering the mining or natural resources sectors.
As an Investment Banking Analyst or Associate, you will play a key role in supporting transaction execution and pitching activities, gaining significant exposure to complex advisory and financing mandates. Responsibilities will progressively increase, offering strong development opportunities within a specialist sector-focused franchise.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluating and analysing the financial needs of corporate clients, including building complex financial models and performing valuation analyses
- Preparing high-quality pitch books and presentation materials to support clients’ strategic and capital markets decisions
- Supporting deal teams on transaction structuring, execution of advisory and financing mandates, and project coordination
- Conducting detailed company, industry, and commodity market research with a focus on mining
- Assisting in the drafting of prospectuses, offering memoranda, and other transaction-related documentation
- Supporting senior team members in client coverage, deal execution, and ongoing relationship management
Required Experience & Skills
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or engineering
- At least 1-3 years of full-time investment banking experience, preferably in the mining or natural resources sectors
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High professional standards, integrity, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with Capital IQ and Bloomberg is an asset
